The Boston Red Sox recently filmed a public service announcement for Dan Savage’s It Gets Better project. However, the original PSA, which the Red Sox never released, was quite different. In the original Jason Varitek told victims of bullying to “cowboy up you bunch of pussies,” and “Did you see us crying in game four in ’04 when the entire fucking planet was laughing at us for choking again?”.

Dustin Pedroia’s original spot featured him telling kids “Look at this way, unless you have the good fortune to be a professional athlete this is what the rest of your life is going to be like anyway. Be grateful that when you enter the real world you’ll have a head start on the assholes making your life miserable.”
